32nd National Tour Guide Training Successfully Concludes

KPL The Ministry of Culture and Tourism held the closing ceremony of the 32nd National Tour Guide Training on July 24, 2025, following a comprehensive 55-day program conducted from May 5 to July 22. The event was attended by Mr. Amkha Vongmeunka, Director of the Institute of Culture and Tourism, along with trainees and officials.

(KPL) The Ministry of Culture and Tourism held the closing ceremony of the 32nd National Tour Guide Training on July 24, 2025, following a comprehensive 55-day program conducted from May 5 to July 22. The event was attended by Mr. Amkha Vongmeunka, Director of the Institute of Culture and Tourism, along with trainees and officials.

In her remarks, Ms. Phenpapha Phongsa, Deputy Director of the Institute, highlighted that this training course employed a modular learning system, featuring simultaneous courses and examinations. The curriculum consisted of 22 subjects, grouped into three categories: 5 general knowledge, 7 basic knowledge, and 10 specialized knowledge subjects. Out of these, 16 subjects were formally assessed.

Participants also benefited from special lectures covering key topics such as tourism development, business management, and tourism advertising. The training methods included lectures, demonstrations, group discussions, classroom drama, presentations, practical exercises, and study tours to various tourist sites.

Evaluation results from the program showed strong performance among the trainees: 80% of participants demonstrated very good understanding across a wide range of topics including: Tourism and the tourism industry, tour guide business operations, tourist safety and support, communication skills, Lao traditions, culture, politics, laws, economy, and society, natural, historical, and cultural attractions, tour services, entry/exit regulations, and Lao cuisine for tourists 70% of trainees were rated good in key tour guide competencies such as: Tour commentary and information delivery, tour time management, tourist behavior analysis, problem-solving and attention-capturing techniques, professional ethics

Another 80% of participants exhibited very good understanding of essential tour guide qualities, including: Human relations and service psychology, personality and presentation, communication, motivation, and a willingness to continuously learn and improve.

The Ministry emphasized that this training program is crucial for developing skilled, knowledgeable, and professional tour guides, which is essential to supporting the growth of the Lao tourism sector.
