A bilateral meeting between the Lao News Agency (KPL) and the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) was held in Vientiane on November 20, 2024. The event was attended by Mr. Vannasin Simmavong, Director General of KPL, and Ms. Vu Viet Trang, Director General of VNA, alongside their respective delegations.

(KPL) A bilateral meeting between the Lao News Agency (KPL) and the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) was held in Vientiane on November 20, 2024. The event was attended by Mr. Vannasin Simmavong, Director General of KPL, and Ms. Vu Viet Trang, Director General of VNA, alongside their respective delegations.
The meeting reviewed past cooperation, discussed future plans, and outlined measures to implement the cooperation agreement between the two agencies, focusing on strengthening comprehensive collaboration.
Mr. Vannasin praised the longstanding partnership between the two national news agencies, rooted in the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam. He highlighted the significant roles of KPL and VNA as official information platforms that meet societal needs in the digital age.
The partnership has grown substantially, particularly in the exchange of information, technical expertise, and professional training. This collaboration has enhanced their political and public communication duties, while promoting solidarity and cooperation between the two Parties, governments, and peoples of Laos and Vietnam.
Both agencies reaffirmed their commitment to supporting propaganda efforts, fostering unity, and enhancing friendly relations.
These efforts underline the growing importance of their partnership in strengthening ties between the two nations.
Mr. Vannasin also expressed appreciation for VNA’s technical and professional support, particularly in developing the ASEAN 2024 web page for KPL. Launched on January 1, 2024, this platform promotes key information and news related to ASEAN, with Laos serving as the host nation.
The web page aims to raise awareness among ASEAN member countries about significant events during the ASEAN Summits and related meetings.
In addition, KPL received communication equipment from VNA to support its ASEAN-related operations in 2024.
Ms. Vu Viet Trang commended KPL’s efforts in promoting Vietnam-Laos cooperation to a wider audience and acknowledged the productive collaboration between the two agencies over the years.
She reaffirmed VNA’s commitment to strengthening ties with KPL through continued information exchange, experience sharing, and collaboration in fulfilling their roles as national media organizations.
During the meeting, the two sides signed a meeting minutes and agreed on a direction for future cooperation. Key priorities include enhancing news and information exchange to broaden dissemination across fields such as politics, diplomacy, economics, culture, and society, further promoting the profound friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.
KPL will continue to support the distribution of the Lao-language Vietnam Pictorial in Laos, expanding its reach to educational institutions. It will also facilitate the operations of VNA’s representative office in Vientiane to promote its publicity about Laos.
The two agencies also agreed to collaborate on organizing photo exhibitions in Laos to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Lao PDR’s establishment. VNA, through its Vientiane office, will continue popularising Laos’ achievements and the strong bonds between the two countries.
