Deputy Prime Ministers, government members, and representatives from ministries and organizations attended the meeting, while provincial governors and the Vientiane Mayor joined via teleconference.
The meeting reviewed progress on the government’s priorities for November and set the direction for December 2024.
It emphasized the need for the Prime Minister’s Office to maintain focus on achieving the government’s 2024 targets, particularly addressing pressing economic and financial issues alongside urgent social challenges in a concrete and effective manner.
Relevant authorities were instructed to assess mining projects, collaborate with stakeholders, and closely monitor mining companies nationwide to ensure compliance with technical standards, contractual obligations, and environmental protection measures.
Mining companies were also encouraged to assist in repairing roads damaged by mineral transportation.
Promoting Domestic Production and Export
Authorities were urged to support dry-season agriculture by ensuring adequate water supply systems for production areas and building sufficient fertilizer factories to lower production costs.
As for tourism promotion, the meeting noted that efforts should focus on improving tourist attractions, enhancing service quality, ensuring safety and orderliness, and upgrading access roads to key tourist sites.
Addressing Teacher Shortages
The Ministry of Education and Sports was directed to work with the Ministry of National Defence to deploy conscripts as temporary teachers in areas with educator shortages. The meeting also discussed increasing allowances for pedagogical students.
Authorities were asked to continue advancing the digitalization of labour management systems.
The meeting also called on relevant authorities to focus on implementing the outcomes of the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and related summits, as well as the GMS Summit, ACMECS Summit, and CLMV Summit.
