Lao, Vietnamese Foreign Ministers Hold Virtual Meeting

(KPL) On July 28, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, Thongsavanh Phomvihane, held a video conference with Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bui Thanh Son.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese side expressed its appreciation for the success of the official visit of the Foreign Minister of the Lao PDR to Cambodia from July 24-26 and expressed its gratitude for the Lao side hosting a working breakfast for the three foreign ministers of Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia on the occasion of attending the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Malaysia. 

The two foreign ministers agreed and highly appreciated the cooperative relations between the two countries, as well as between the two foreign ministries, which have been continuously enhanced and achieved tangible results in the past.

They agreed to continue working closely together to support their senior leaders in realising the agreements reached by their respective Parties and governments, with the aim of delivering maximum benefits to the peoples of both countries.

Both sides also discussed preparations for high-level participation in two major upcoming events namely the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day on September 2, 2025, and the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Lao PDR on December 2, 2025.

They also reviewed plans for the 12th Lao-Vietnam Foreign Ministerial Political Consultation, which will be hosted by Vietnam at the end of 2025.

In addition, the two ministers exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest.
