According to Minister Gwede Mantashe, the meeting seeks to boost inclusive growth and sustainable development through the strategic management of critical minerals.
The G20 Critical Minerals initiative, according to a ministerial communique, aligns global priorities to ensure the sustainable and equitable use of minerals essential for modern technologies and the transition to renewable energy.
The event brings together representatives from government, industry, labor organizations and civil society, fostering a comprehensive dialogue on the vision, guiding principles and key pillars of the framework.
In the paper Mantashe emphasized the importance of collaboration, stating that harnessing the potential of critical minerals is not only crucial for economic growth, but also for ensuring a just transition to sustainability that does not exclude any stakeholders.
