(KPL) Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will release five millions of fingerings into the natural rivers aiming to mark the 20th anniversary of the National Day for Wildlife and Aquatic Animal Conservation on July 13.

“The celebration of the National Day for Wildlife and Aquatic Animal Conservation is to raise awareness among the general public about wildlife conservation, which is rapidly disappearing in our country,” Oudom Sipasert, Acting General Director of Natural Resources Management Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry said at a press conference in Vientiane Capital on July 4.

“The Government has always seen the importance of conservation of wild and aquatic animals because we would like to protect and keep them for our grandchildren,” said Mr Oudom.

He called all social strata to work hand-in-hand in the conservation of wild and aquatic animals by not hunting and buying them for food and not destroying forests, the natural habitat for wild animals.

Last year, 4 million fingerings were released on the National Day for Wildlife and Aquatic Animal Conservation.

The National Day for Wildlife and Aquatic Animal Conservation is an important day. It aims to promote public awareness on the protection of wildlife and aquatic animals and their habitats as well as the whole ecosystem.
