(KPL) The National Assembly of Laos launched here today its newly developed website for the 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) www.aipa45.gov.la.
The launch coincides the celebration of the International Day of Parliamentarism which is celebrated every year on 30 June, the date in 1889 on which the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) was founded.
IPU has 180 member countries including the Lao PDR. The organisation aims to promote relationship, communication, and exchange among member countries around the world, consider issues of global importance, promote the rule of law, gender role, youth, peace, democracy and sustainable development.
The 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) will be held in Vientiane on Oct 17-22.
Present at the opening ceremony for the website included President of the National Assembly Xaysomphone Phomvihane, members of the National Assembly and representatives of relevant authorities.
“The website will provide basic information on AIPA, its General Assemblies, and activities,” said Vice President of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, National Assembly, Mr. Chanthavong Seneamatmontry.
