10th Meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN Held

KPL On October 6, at the National Convention Hall in Vientiane, Mr. Bovonthat Duangchack, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Lao PDR to ASEAN, chaired the 10th Meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) for 2024. As the Chair of the CPR for this year, he led discussions on key issues impacting the region.

(KPL) On October 6, at the National Convention Hall in Vientiane, Mr. Bovonthat Duangchack, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Lao PDR to ASEAN, chaired the 10th Meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) for 2024. As the Chair of the CPR for this year, he led discussions on key issues impacting the region.

Attendees included the permanent representatives of ASEAN member states, a representative from Timor-Leste as an observer, and officials from the ASEAN Secretariat.

The meeting addressed several key topics, with a particular focus on the preparation of key documents that will be presented to ASEAN leaders for consideration and adoption during the upcoming 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits.

These documents include: the Draft ASEAN-Canada Summit Declaration; the Draft Statement of the 21st ASEAN-India Summit; the Draft Statement of the ASEAN-China Dialogue; the Draft Statement of the 25th ASEAN-Republic of Korea Summit; and the Draft Document for the 19th East Asia Summit.

Additionally, the meeting reviewed the progress of the ASEAN Community’s work, external cooperation efforts, and the overall preparation for the ASEAN Summits and related meetings, which are scheduled to take place from October 8-11, 2024, at the National Convention Hall in Vientiane under the theme “ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience”.

The CPR Meeting marked the 4th time the Lao PDR has held the presidency of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN.
