(KPL) The Lao Ministry of Public Security hosted a bilateral meeting with the Royal Thai Senate Committee on Law and Justice on July 1, aimed at enhancing cooperation in combating cross-border drug trafficking.
The meeting was co-chaired by Lt. Col. Vanthone Sulisak, Deputy Director-General of the Lao Police Department, and Lt. Col. Bounchan Nuansai, Chairman of the Thai Senate Committee on Law and Justice, with delegations from both sides in attendance.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening friendship, solidarity, and coordination in preventing, controlling, and solving drug-related issues along the Lao-Thai border. Their shared goal is to transform the border into a drug-free zone, ensuring peace and safety for both nations.
The meeting reviewed current challenges and progress in drug control efforts, and featured discussions on:
Joint law enforcement measures
Cross-border investigations and arrests
Exchange of intelligence and information
Rehabilitation and treatment for drug addicts
Thailand is set to host the 21st Lao-Thai Bilateral Meeting on Drug Control Cooperation at the end of 2025.
This continued collaboration reflects the enduring partnership between the two governments at both senior official and ministerial levels.
