(KPL) Severe flooding struck Ngern District, Sayabouly province overnight from July 16 to 17, 2025, following hours of continuous heavy rainfall. Flash floods swept through Thong Village, Homsai Village, and Pakkaen Village, causing widespread disruption and damage.

National Highway No. 2 WU, a critical route connecting Ngern District to Pakbeng District in Oudomxay Province, has been severely damaged and is now completely impassable, effectively halting all travel between the two regions.

In response, the District Disaster Management Committee, in collaboration with the Lao People's Army and local militia forces, has launched urgent relief efforts to assist affected communities.

Authorities are currently conducting damage assessments, and further updates will be provided in due course.

Travelers and the general public are advised to avoid the affected route, remain vigilant, and closely follow official weather alerts and news reports.
