Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam enhance cooperation in foreign affairs in the development triangle

Mrs Vandy Butthasavong, Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR said this meeting is an important contribution to increasing and enhancing the extend traditional friendship relations, strong unity and comprehensive cooperation of the three governments as well as the three legislative bodies to have a new face and to grow even more to bring real benefits to the people of the three nations, specifically in the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam development triangle.

Appreciate the cooperation and mutual support of the three national parliaments in the past, especially in the regional and international parliaments. In addition, the three national parliaments have regularly met and exchanged delegations at various levels in the bilateral framework.

In order to ensure the progress and success of the development in the CLV development triangle area, we must speed up the implementation of the role of monitoring the implementation of the agreements and documents that the governments of the three countries have signed together, such as the master plan for socio-economic development Plan (2020 revision) and the CLV development triangle tourism development plan for the years 2020-2025 and the vision until 2030, by encouraging the government to create consistent, harmonious and detailed legislation for implementation to have unity in all three countries, she added.

Mrs Vandy also hopes that the members of the three National Assemblies will continue to coordinate and support each other in the regional and international parliaments to discuss, exchange views and opinions in solving various challenges in a peaceful way, at the same time mobilizing funds from domestic investors, CLV and from other development partners according to the country's potential and needs, namely: infrastructure development for integration-connection, agricultural production for export for economic-social development, job creation and raising the standard of living of the people in the three regions. The development corner is also the people of three nations, Cambodia-Laos- Vietnam to improve gradually.

At the same time, we should continue to encourage the members of the National Assembly who are stationed in the constituency of the Development Triangle to exchange opinions and lead monitoring, collect outstanding and pressing issues and present them to the National Assembly and the governments of the three countries to find channels and take appropriate measures to solve them; Establish a parliamentary friendship committee at the local level in the development triangle of Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam by taking turns hosting a meeting every year to review the results of the implementation of cooperation agreements in the area and promote the exchange of visits by leaders of various levels of government agencies, legislative bodies, people at the central and local levels of the 3 countries to make the development triangle an area of peace, friendship and cooperation for sustainable development, she said.
