KPL (KPL ) The Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare has registered over 21,000 workers nationwide. These include over 17,600 Lao workers and more than 3,400 foreign workers.

(KPL ) The Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare has registered over 21,000 workers nationwide. These include over 17,600 Lao workers and more than 3,400 foreign workers.

Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Ms. Baykham Khattiya told the ongoing 7th Ordinary Session last week that her Ministry has paid attention to monitoring and inspecting the implementation of labor laws and related regulations. 

Over the past six months, the ministry has inspected 1,091 labour units with a total of over 12,500 workers, looking into their labor contracts, bylaws, safety and health standards, as well as wages and welfare of their employees.

The ministry also established a committee responsible for registering workers and collecting data on labor to enter into the tax revenue management database system (TaxRIS) and strengthening the capacity building of provincial staff across the country.
