(KPL) President of the National Assembly Xaysomphone Phomvihane received in Vientiane on Jul 4 a courtesy visit from Vice President of the National Assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Khac Dinh and his delegation on the occasion of his working visit to the Lao PDR on Jul 3-5.

Mr. Xaysomphone highly valued the visit of the Vietnamese NA Vice President as a significant contribution to strengthening and enhancing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two states and peoples of Laos and Vietnam, as a whole, and between the two national legislative bodies in particular. 

The host spoke highly of the lessons and experiences shared by the National Assembly of Vietnam with respect to the revision of the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

He noted that such lessons and experiences are valuable for the Lao side to be used in revising its Constitution of 2015.

The host also praised the cooperation between the Lao and Vietnam National Assemblies which has been deepened over the past years.

He expressed his gratitude to the National Assembly of Vietnam for its technical and material assistance to its Lao counterpart and his hope that the senior delegation of the National Assembly of Vietnam will attend the 45th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (57th AIPA) to be hosted in Vientiane in October, thus helping the Lao National Assembly fulfill its international obligations.

In reply, Mr Nguyen Khac Dinh expressed his gratitude to Mr Xaysomphone for his warm welcome, and informed him about the results of a scientific seminar on Vietnam’s lessons on constitutional revision and a bilateral meeting between the Lao and Vietnamese national assemblies.
