(KPL) Feuang district, Vientiane Province, is attracting a growing number of domestic and international tourists with its rich cultural and natural attractions.
Since early 2024, more than 146,000 tourists have visited Feuang district, with its year-end tourism revenue expected to approach 30 billion kip, or roughly USD 1.5 million.
In an interview with the Lao News Agency last week, Feuang District Governor Khamphet Chansomphou highlighted that, since the end of COVID-19, the district’s tourism sector has experienced steady growth, particularly in natural and cultural tourism.
Key attractions, such as river houses along the Lik River and the Nonhinhe Xayaram Temple, continue to attract increasing numbers of visitors each year. This growth has led to a rise in construction, facility improvements, and renovations in tourism services.
The expansion of restaurants, drinking establishments, and guesthouses has also provided valuable employment opportunities, boosting income generation for local residents.
Governor Khamphet noted that Feuang district is planning to hold the annual Sammeun Toub Feuang Festival, a grand rocket festival, alongside boat tours on the Lik River, and cultural celebrations of local ethnic groups. These events aim to attract more visitors and foster income generation for local communities and businesses.
