(KPL) Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongsavanh Phomvihane signed the book of condolences at the Embassy of Malaysia in Vientiane on April 18, expressing sympathy over the passing of former Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi.
In his message, Minister Thongsavanh conveyed condolences on behalf of the government and people of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, as well as in his personal capacity.

“We extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the government and people of Malaysia, especially the family and loved ones of the late statesman, who passed away on April 14, 2025,” he wrote.
The Foreign Minister also paid tribute to Abdullah Badawi’s contributions to Malaysia’s development and his efforts in promoting ASEAN cooperation during his tenure.
The gesture reflects the enduring friendship and strong diplomatic ties between Laos and Malaysia.
