In line with the 2025 cooperation and exchange plan between the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Communist Party Committee, a delegation from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, led by Mr. Zhou Yije, Member of the Standing Committee, Party Secretary, and Head of the Office of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, paid an official visit to the Lao PDR from August 18–21, 2025.
(KPL) In line with the 2025 cooperation and exchange plan between the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Communist Party Committee, a delegation from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, led by Mr. Zhou Yije, Member of the Standing Committee, Party Secretary, and Head of the Office of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, paid an official visit to the Lao PDR from August 18–21, 2025.
On August 19, Mr. Zhou and his delegation paid a courtesy call on Mr. Bounthong Chitmany, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, Standing Committee of the Secretariat, and Vice President of the Lao PDR. Vice President Bounthong warmly welcomed the delegation and underlined the significance of their visit in advancing traditional friendship and long-term, comprehensive, and stable strategic cooperation under the “Four Good Principles” and the “Community with a Shared Future” vision between the two Parties, States, and peoples.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the longstanding cooperation between the Lao PDR and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, characterized by regular high-level exchanges and continued support, particularly in training and developing Lao cadres in China. They agreed to further strengthen cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, investment, education, and agriculture, and reaffirmed their commitment to actively supporting and participating in the upcoming China–ASEAN Expo to be held later this year in China.
Mr. Zhou expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome extended by Vice President Bounthong. He briefed him on recent developments in China, commended the progress of bilateral cooperation, and proposed future initiatives to effectively implement the agreements reached by the senior leaders of the two Parties and States. These include the Master Plan on Building a Lao–China Community with a Shared Future, the Cooperation Plan between the two Parties, and the new Cooperation Plan between the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Party Committee.
During the visit, Mr. Zhou and his delegation also met with Mr. Valaxay Lengsavath, Deputy Director of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, as well as leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the Ministry of Technology and Communications. In addition, the delegation visited Luang Prabang Province and met with provincial leaders to further explore opportunities for local cooperation.
