The National University of Laos (NUOL) has taken a major step toward enhancing students’ global competitiveness by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Asia Employment Service Co., Ltd. The signing ceremony, held on September 19, 2025, in Vientiane, established a framework for sending Lao students to gain professional experience in Japan.

On 19th September 2025, a delegation of Australian Parliamentarians participating in the Australian Regional Leadership Initiative (ARLI) visited a Primary School in Vientiane. They were joined by Mr. Kingmano Phommahaxay, Vice-Minister for Education and Sports of Lao PDR, Ms. Benita Sommerville, Deputy Ambassador, Australian Embassy, and senior officials from the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The visit highlighted the tangible outcomes of Australia’s ongoing investment in primary education through the BEQUAL program.

The National University of Laos (NUOL) held its 2024–2025 graduation ceremony on September 20, 2025, conferring degrees on 3,352 graduates, including 1,686 women. Among the graduates were 5 doctoral candidates (1 woman), 377 master's degree recipients (147 women), 2,970 bachelor’s degree holders (1,538 women), and 4 associate degree graduates.

This week, the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES), with support from the Australian Government through the BEQUAL program, filmed the second episode of their groundbreaking national campaign to promote education across Laos. Led by the Research Institute of Educational Sciences (RIES) under MoES, the campaign aims to inspire viewers and transform perceptions of education across Laos.

Students across Laos will have enough textbooks, writing books, and teacher’s manuals for the new 2025-2026 school year. The Education Printing House State Enterprise under the Ministry of Education and Sports has completed printing and is ready to distribute books to schools nationwide.
