(KPL) A Lao delegation led by Deputy Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Dalany Phommavongsa, participated in the 16th China International Tourism Industry Expo (CITIE) held in Guangzhou, China, from September 13-15, 2024.
The delegation included representatives from key tourism-related sectors, such as the Department of Tourism Promotion, the Department of Tourism Business Management, and the Department of International Cooperation, along with officials from Champassak Province and tourism enterprises.The expo, organized by the Guangzhou Cultural and Tourism Development and Promotion Centre, aims to enhance regional and international tourism promotion through business-to-business (B2B) networking, where buyers and sellers meet to promote and negotiate tourism-related products.The event draws more than 3,000 exhibitors from 50 countries, showcasing tourism services across China's regions and internationally.
During the event, Lao tourism companies seized the opportunity to promote Visit Laos Year 2024, connecting with over 400 business leaders in the global tourism industry. The interactions focused on strengthening cooperation, exchanging tourism-related information, and expanding Laos’ tourism market to regional and global audiences.
Deputy Minister Dalany Phommavongsa, along with officials from Guangzhou and the Minister of Tourism of Tonga, presided over the event's opening ceremony.
She also visited the Lao booth and other country exhibitions, emphasizing the importance of these collaborations in boosting Laos' presence on the global tourism stage.
