(KPL)Vientiane, January 21, 2025 - AUF, the world's leading university network, is committed, through the project « Strengthening the economic autonomy of market vendors and their commitment to the environment », to the fight against plastic waste and the promotion of responsible trade.

The communication campaign "Without plastic, it's more chic!" is based on a show sung and danced by the troupe of traditional artists (mo lam) from AK band and which aims to spread messages in favor of the use of cloth bags and baskets instead of single-use plastic bags. The artists present a series of songs and dances specially designed for the project and invite market workers and customers to participate in the show.

This show takes place every Tuesday between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the Nonkho market until February 11, 2025.

Funded by the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) and implemented by the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), this project intervenes in one of the largest fresh markets in the capital with vendors, in order to encourage them to reduce the number of plastic bags they distribute to customers while increasing their turnover.

All the activities set up as part of the project are filmed by a group of 10 students from the National University of Laos and the University of Health Sciences in order to train them in video reporting and to raise awareness among young people about environmental protection.
