Mr. Bounthong Chitmany, Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat and Vice State President, received in Vientiane on Tuesday a courtesy call from Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, who led a working delegation to prepare for the upcoming state visit to Laos by the President of Vietnam on April 8-9, 2025.

(KPL) Mr. Bounthong Chitmany, Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat and Vice State President, received in Vientiane on Tuesday a courtesy call from Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, who led a working delegation to prepare for the upcoming state visit to Laos by the President of Vietnam on April 8-9, 2025.
On this occasion, Mr. Bounthong Chitmany expressed his warm welcome and high appreciation for the delegation’s preparatory work.
He commended the close coordination and frank discussions between the two sides on various aspects, including substantive agendas and ceremonial arrangements, to ensure comprehensive readiness for the Vietnamese President’s state visit.
The Vice President also congratulated Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong on his recent appointment as Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam in March 2025 and conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to Mr. Tran Cam Tu, Permanent Member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Secretariat.
Furthermore, the Vice President highly praised the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, which continues to grow stronger across all fields.
Notably, the two sides successfully held their annual politburo meetings in 2024 and 2025 and exchanged high-level and local visits—demonstrating a unique and unparalleled relationship in the world.
He proposed that both sides, particularly the foreign ministries of Laos and Vietnam, further strengthen coordination, maintain close communication, and exchange timely information to ensure the success of the Vietnamese President’s state visit to Laos and future high-level exchanges.
In response, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong thanked the Lao side for the warm reception and briefed on his delegation’s working visit outcomes.
He affirmed that Vietnam would continue working closely with Laos to ensure the Vietnamese President’s upcoming state visit achieves complete success.
