(KPL) Cuban president has declared official mourning for the late General Khamtay Siphandone, former President of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee and former President of the Lao PDR from 6:00 a.m. on April 5 until midnight on April 6, 2025.
“With deep sorrow, our people have learned of the passing of comrade Khamtay Siphandone, former Secretary General of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and former President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
During his long and distinguished political and revolutionary career, comrade Khamtay Siphandone made important contributions to strengthening the relations of brotherhood, solidarity, and mutual trust between our Parties, Governments, and peoples.
For this reason, Official Mourning is declared from 6:00 a.m. on April 5th until midnight on April 6th, 2025.
During the Official Mourning period, the Lone Star Flag will be flown at half-mast on public buildings and military institutions,” said Cuban Presiden Miguel Díaz-Canel.
