(KPL) The three-day Lao New Year (Pi Mai) celebrations in 2025 were marked by a troubling number of road accidents across the country, according to the Department of Traffic Police.

Between April 14 and 16, a total of 169 traffic accidents were reported nationwide, resulting in 15 deaths, 302 injuries, and damage to 290 vehicles.

April 14 proved to be the deadliest day, with 62 accidents, 97 injuries, and 9 fatalities. On April 15, authorities recorded 63 accidents, 116 injuries, and 5 deaths. The final day, April 16, saw 44 accidents, 89 injuries, and 1 death.

Authorities are urging the public to exercise greater caution on the roads, particularly during national holidays when traffic volume and risk are significantly higher.
