(KPL) Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, Politburo Member of the Party Central Committee, attended the handover ceremony of the Governor of Sekong Province on July 1, 2025.

The event marked the official transfer of leadership from Mr. Leklai Sivilay, outgoing Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Sekong Province, to Mr. Bounlai Boutthi, newly appointed Acting Party Secretary and Acting Governor of Sekong Province. The ceremony was held in Sekong Province and attended by senior officials from the Party Central Committee, along with provincial and district leaders.

In his address, Mr. Leklai Sivilay reflected on his tenure, highlighting key achievements under his leadership and the trust placed in him by the Party, State, and people of Sekong Province. He expressed gratitude for the support he received during his service.

Mr. Don Phaivong, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Committee, then read the Politburo's resolutions on the transfer and appointment of senior officials. The resolutions included the reassignment of Mr. Leklai to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and the appointment of Mr. Bounlai as Acting Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Acting Governor of Sekong Province.

Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone commended Mr. Leklai for his dedication and leadership, recognizing his contributions to political and socio-economic development in Sekong. The Prime Minister emphasized that the reshuffle is in line with the Party’s goals to enhance organizational strength and leadership capacity at all levels.

He called on the new leadership to serve as a unifying force, to strengthen solidarity among cadres and communities, and to focus on building a resilient and transparent political system. PM Sonexay stressed the importance of preparing for the upcoming three-level Party Congress and urged continued efforts in public administration reform, socio-economic advancement, and grassroots-level leadership.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence in the capabilities and experience of the newly appointed acting governor, urging all Party members and local officials to work together closely to achieve development goals set by the Party and State.
