(KPL) A delegation from the Consulate General of Vietnam in Southern Laos, led by Consul General Ms. Ta Phuong Dung, laid wreaths, incense sticks, and candles at the Vietnam–Laos Combat Alliance Monument in Champasak Province on July 27, marking the 78th anniversary of Vietnamese Martyrs’ Day (27/7/1947 – 27/7/2025).

The ceremony was joined by representatives from the Vietnamese Association in Champasak Province, the Vietnam Enterprises Association, and the Department of Industry and Commerce of Da Nang City, who gathered to honor the shared sacrifices of the two nations.

In her remarks, Ms. Ta Phuong Dung reflected on the deep-rooted friendship and unwavering solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, forged through their historic revolutionary struggles. She emphasized that the occasion was not only a significant political event, but also a heartfelt tribute to traditional Vietnamese values such as “When you have a house, do not forget to build a house” and “Returning a favor in return for a favor”—principles nurtured over generations.

Ms. Ta expressed her belief that future generations will continue to uphold and advance the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries—values built on the sacrifices of past heroes.

Mr. Dong Cong Dung, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Champasak Province, noted that the annual observance is a deeply meaningful tradition for the Vietnamese community in southern Laos. It serves as a moment to collectively remember and pay tribute to those who gave their lives for the freedom and peace of both nations.

He also remarked that for Vietnamese living abroad, participating in such commemorative events is a profound honor. “Those far from their homeland understand even more deeply the value of peace and the sacrifices made to achieve it,” he said.

Mr. Dong added that the occasion serves as a powerful reminder of the responsibility shared by current and future generations to safeguard and strengthen the unique and enduring bond between Vietnam and Laos, ensuring that this special relationship remains a treasured legacy for both nations.
