Vice Premier urges prompt solutions to internet, cyber threats

KPL (KPL ) Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security, Gen. Vilay Lakhamfong has urged the Ministry of Technology and Communications to seek prompt resolutions to internet and cybercrimes.

(KPL ) Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security, Gen. Vilay Lakhamfong has urged the Ministry of Technology and Communications to seek prompt resolutions to internet and cybercrimes.

Giving a guidance speech at the biannual meeting of the National Internet Management Committee on Jun 25, Gen. Vilay called on relevant authorities to accelerate addressing internet and cybercrimes including leaks of government documents, pornographic contents, online gambling, illegal lotteries, prostitution, and drug trafficking.

The vice premier noted that it is necessary for the Internet Management Committee to work closely with relevant parties to ensure the Internet and digital technology can contribute effectively to the national protection and development cause, especially through strengthening the Internet Management Committees at all levels.

He called on relevant authorities to establish a collaboration mechanism with telecommunication and internet service providers who are directly responsible for internet users’ information, and for related infrastructure to ensure actions can be taken in a timely manner. 

He also urged relevant authorities to focus on devising a national cyber security strategy to be used as a reference for internet and cyber security management.
