KPL (KPL) On January 8, 2025, Party Secretary General and State President Thongloun Sisoulith sent a telegram of condolence to Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is also Secretary General of the Communist Party of China regarding the 6.8-magnitude earthquake in Dingri, Tibet Autonomous Region, China.

(KPL) On January 8, 2025, Party Secretary General and State President Thongloun Sisoulith sent a telegram of condolence to Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is also Secretary General of the Communist Party of China regarding the 6.8-magnitude earthquake in Dingri, Tibet Autonomous Region, China.

The telegram read:

"I was deeply saddened to learn that on the morning of January 7, 2025, at 09:05, a 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Dingri, Tibet Autonomous Region, China, causing significant damage, loss of life, with many others missing and injured. The quake also severely damaged buildings, houses, public infrastructure, and personal property in the affected area.

On behalf of the Party, Government, and people of Laos, and in my own name, I would like to express my deepest condolences and sympathies to you, and through you to the Party, Government, and people of China, particularly to the families of those affected by this natural disaster.

I am confident that under your leadership, along with the guidance of the Party and Government of China at both central and local levels, this difficult time will be overcome, the affected areas will be restored, and comfort and normalcy will return to the lives of the bereaved families."
