KPL The government convened its monthly meeting on Nov 21 at the Prime Minister's Office, chaired by Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.

 

(KPL) The government convened its monthly meeting on Nov 21 at the Prime Minister's Office, chaired by Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Ministers, government members, and representatives from line ministries and relevant agencies.

Leaders from provinces and Vientiane joined the meeting via video conference.

The two-day meeting is focused on reviewing key issues, including the conclusion of priority tasks for November 2024 and planning for the upcoming month.

Topics under discussion include the evaluation of mining projects, proposed policies and measures for future mineral development, progress in addressing the issue of illegal vehicles, and updates on external cooperation.

The agenda also covers the consideration of several important legislative and regulatory drafts, including: a draft law on cybersecurity, draft decrees on unexploded ordnance clearance, the statistical code system, contract farming, agricultural land, associations, foundations, labor inspection, and high-technology zones.

Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone emphasized the need for collective efforts from society to address pressing national issues.

He highlighted the importance of controlling rising prices of goods amid the continued appreciation of the kip. While noting that the exchange rate has been managed effectively in recent times, he stressed the need for close monitoring and proactive management to maintain stability.
