On the sidelines of the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting, the 32nd ASEAN Regional Forum, and related ministerial gatherings held from July 8–11, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Mr. Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, met with Mr. Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation.

(KPL) On the sidelines of the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting, the 32nd ASEAN Regional Forum, and related ministerial gatherings held from July 8–11, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Mr. Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, met with Mr. Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the meeting and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the long-standing friendly relations and cooperation between Laos and Turkiye. The ministers marked the occasion as a meaningful contribution to deepening the relationship that has grown steadily since the two countries established diplomatic ties on June 26, 1958—now celebrating their 67th anniversary.
The ministers highlighted the regular exchange of visits by high-level delegations, continued collaboration, and mutual support in regional and international forums as key indicators of the positive momentum in bilateral relations.
The meeting also focused on future cooperation, with both sides agreeing to:
Promote further exchange of visits at all levels
Expand cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, health, education, labor, and social welfare
Foster institutional partnerships between women’s unions, youth organizations, and other people-to-people platforms
Additionally, the two foreign ministers exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest and explored possibilities for deeper engagement within multilateral frameworks.
The meeting reflects both countries’ shared interest in expanding meaningful cooperation and mutual support on the global stage.
