(KPL) Lao Mobile Money Sole Co., Ltd., the operator of Laos’ leading digital wallet service MmoneyX, has officially entered into a strategic partnership with Visa, the world’s leading digital payments company. The collaboration aims to accelerate the adoption of secure, accessible, and modern digital payment solutions across the Lao PDR.

The signing ceremony took place in Hanoi, Vietnam, with key executives from both organizations in attendance.

The agreement was signed by Mr. Alounnadeth Banchit, Director of Lao Mobile Money Sole Co., Ltd., and Ms. Dang Tuyet Dung, Country Manager of Visa for Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. Also present were Mr. Suphon Chanthavisai, General Director of Lao Telecom Public Company, along with senior executives from both companies.

This partnership marks a significant milestone in the development of Laos’ digital financial ecosystem. By combining Visa’s global payment infrastructure with MmoneyX’s growing user base and local expertise, the initiative aims to drive financial inclusion and offer safer, faster, and more convenient payment experiences for Lao citizens.

The partnership will work to expand access to financial services by introducing digital payment options for individuals who are unbanked or underbanked, enabling greater participation in the formal financial system.

Visa’s secure payment infrastructure will be integrated into the MmoneyX platform, supporting a range of transactions including QR code payments, in-store purchases, mobile phone top-ups, and digital financial services.

Plans are underway to develop co-branded Visa cards to extend credit access to both individuals and small businesses, enhancing financial flexibility and contributing to economic growth within communities.

The partnership will also enable direct international remittances into the MmoneyX wallet, simplifying the process for Lao workers abroad to send money home safely and efficiently.

“This collaboration with Visa is a crucial step in our mission to transform how people in Laos manage and move money,” said Mr. Alounnadeth Banchit. “By making digital payments more accessible, secure, and reliable, we are helping to empower communities and drive economic progress.”

With this alliance, Lao Mobile Money and Visa reaffirm their commitment to building a robust, inclusive, and future-ready digital payments ecosystem in Laos.
