(KPL) Lao media outlets are taking significant steps toward digital transformation, as journalists participated in a comprehensive training program focused on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in content creation, alongside a specialized course on One Health.
Held from August 4 to 8 in Vientiane, the training equipped reporters with practical skills to integrate AI into their news production workflows. Journalists learned how to utilize platforms such as Gemini and ChatGPT to research and generate news content, translate stories, search for and create images, and produce video clips using smartphones. Participants also practiced using the LM notebook system to compile articles, broadcast radio news, and create multimedia content.
The training also addressed one of the most pressing challenges in the digital age: misinformation. Participants were trained to identify and verify fake news and detect AI-generated or altered images, improving their capacity to ensure accuracy and public trust.

In parallel, the program featured a specialized course on One Health, emphasizing the interconnection between human, animal, and environmental health. The course was led by Professor Tanaphon Raoma Nachai from Thailand, who provided in-depth insights into the One Health concept and its significance for public communication.
As part of the training experience, Lao journalists also visited the Lao Youth Radio office to observe how modern reporting tools are being applied in practice.
This initiative reflects Laos’ commitment to strengthening media capacity, supporting responsible journalism, and embracing technological innovations to enhance information delivery in an increasingly digital media landscape.
