Tourism Development Project Boosts Tourism in Feuang District

KPL The Department of Tourism Development, in collaboration with the Thai International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA), organized promotional activities to highlight community-based tourism in Feuang District, Vientiane Province.

 

(KPL) The Department of Tourism Development, in collaboration with the Thai International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA), organized promotional activities to highlight community-based tourism in Feuang District, Vientiane Province.

The initiative focuses on Ban Namai and Ban Sammeun villages, aiming to promote tourism while preserving local traditions, culture, nature, and history.

The project encourages community participation, supports the development of tourism products and destinations, and promotes local handicrafts to generate income for local communities.

As part of the project, Thai experts conducted training sessions on tourism communication and public relations. Topics included the importance of communication, content creation for tourism, basic photography and videography techniques, and initial communication strategies to develop storytelling content.

Fieldwork was also conducted, focusing on creating content for online social media dissemination and producing promotional materials highlighting tourism routes and environmental conservation in Namai village.

Specific activities included 100-year-old traditional liquor distillation, handicraft weaving, pottery, and culinary showcases.

In Sammeun village, activities featured visits to ancient temples and houses, pottery workshops, and riverboat tours along the Lik River to view lime orchards.

The content and activities developed during this initiative will be widely promoted through social media. In the future, these efforts are expected to raise awareness of the two villages, making them more recognized by external communities while contributing to boosting tourism in the area.
