(KPL) On March 28, the Embassy of India hosted an event to showcase the tourism potential of India’s northeastern states. The gathering brought together representatives from Lao tourism businesses, government officials from both Laos and India, and members of the press.

During the event, Mr. Yogeshwar Sangwan, the Indian Ambassador to Laos, emphasized the region’s tourism opportunities and its role in socio-economic development.

He stated that the Indian government has identified these states as vital economic hubs for the next decade, positioning them as gateways to ASEAN. Several large-scale investment projects are already underway in the region.

Northeast India is home to numerous captivating attractions, including Bodh Gaya (where the Buddha attained enlightenment), the Taj Mahal (one of the Seven Wonders of the World), Sela Pass, Ujjayanta Palace, and Kaziranga National Park, among others.

Miss Universe Laos 2024, Phiranya Thipphongvong, also shared her experiences from her recent trip to India: "I was delighted to visit India, a country of immense cultural diversity, and deepen my understanding of Buddhism, Indian lifestyles, and tourism opportunities. I explored Buddha Pradesh, the Taj Mahal—a true wonder of the world—and other remarkable sites. Wearing Lao traditional textiles during my visits also symbolized the cultural exchange between our two nations."
