(KPL) Col. Phuongxay Milakong, Deputy Director, Department of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Defence on Jun 12 chaired a video conference of the ASEAN Defence Senior Officials’ Meeting Working Group which was attended by heads of the working groups of ASEAN defence senior officials and representatives of the ASEAN Secretariat.

Phuongxay Milakong, Deputy Director, Department of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Defence on Jun 12 chaired a video conference of the ASEAN Defence Senior Officials’ Meeting Working Group which was attended by heads of the working groups of ASEAN defence senior officials and representatives of the ASEAN Secretariat.
The meeting aimed to discuss priorities in the framework of ASEAN defence cooperation during the chairmanship of the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting of the Lao PDR in 2024, especially a draft joint statement of the 18th ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting, a draft principle document on the participation of observers in the specialist unit in the framework of the ASEAN-Plus Defence Ministers' Meeting and related issues.
The participants noted that many activities agreed at the meeting are preparations for important conferences under the ASEAN chairmanship of the Ministry of National Defence of Laos in 2024, including the ASEAN and ASEAN-Plus Senior Defence Officials' Meetings in September and the 18th ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting and the 11th ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting -Plus in November 2024.
