Myanmar hosts 17th ASEAN fisheries consultative forum in Yangon

ຂປລ (KPL/Xinhua) Myanmar is hosting the 17th Meeting of the ASEAN Fisheries Consultative Forum (AFCF), along with the 33rd Meeting of the ASEAN Sectoral Working Group on Fisheries, from Tuesday to Friday, the state-owned daily The Mirror reported on Wednesday.

  

(KPL/Xinhua) Myanmar is hosting the 17th Meeting of the ASEAN Fisheries Consultative Forum (AFCF), along with the 33rd Meeting of the ASEAN Sectoral Working Group on Fisheries, from Tuesday to Friday, the state-owned daily The Mirror reported on Wednesday.

The opening ceremony of the AFCF was held in Yangon on Tuesday. The forum aims to strengthen regional collaboration in the fisheries sector among ASEAN member states, the report said.

The forum included the discussions of key issues such as managing fishing capacity through a zoning approach, promoting sustainable small-scale fisheries, enhancing fishery resource restoration efforts, assessing the impacts of climate change on fisheries and aquaculture, combating illegal fishing, and developing traceability systems for fishery products, it said.

Delegates from all ASEAN member states, including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and the host country Myanmar, attended the forum, the report said.
