(KPL) The Vietnamese Embassy in Laos hosted a photo exhibition in Vientiane on April 22 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification of Vietnam (April 30, 1975).
The event drew representatives from Lao ministries, organizations under the Party Central Committee, various sectors, surrounding institutions, as well as members of the Vietnamese community in Laos, including teachers and students.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tam, reflected on the historic significance of the victory that marked the end of decades of conflict and ushered in a new era of unity and development for Vietnam. He also highlighted the vital contributions of the Lao people, who stood side by side with Vietnamese forces in the struggle for national liberation.

“This victory was the result of the long, resilient fight of the Vietnamese people under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam,” said Ambassador Tam. “The spring offensive of 1975, culminating in the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, was not only a decisive military triumph but also one of the most glorious milestones in the thousand-year history of the Vietnamese nation.”
The exhibition showcased nearly 300 photographs capturing iconic moments from the anti-imperialist struggle, as well as scenes of solidarity between Laos and Vietnam. Images included wartime cooperation between leaders, volunteer soldiers, and citizens of both countries, underscoring their shared sacrifices during the most challenging periods in their histories.
In addition, the exhibition highlighted the enduring achievements of Lao-Vietnamese cooperation, emphasizing the importance of their special solidarity in today’s context of regional and international integration.
