(KPL) The 2025 Laos-Vietnam Trade Fair officially opened in Vientiane on July 17, jointly organized by the ministries of industry and trade of both countries.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of Industry and Commerce Malaythong Kommasith highlighted that the Laos-Vietnam Expo has developed into a national-level trade event that plays a vital role in enhancing the comprehensive cooperation between the governments and peoples of Laos and Vietnam.
He highlighted the fair’s role in boosting trade, investment, and tourism, as well as supporting socio-economic development in both countries.
Minister Malaythong commended the strong interest and active participation of enterprises from both Vietnam and Laos, noting the scale of the booths and the diversity of products on display. He expressed confidence that the fair would further stimulate bilateral trade and help realize the cooperation targets set by the two nations' leaders.
According to the minister, bilateral trade between Vietnam and Laos reached USD2.25 billion in 2024—an increase of 38.2% year-on-year. Trade turnover in the first five months of 2025 alone stood at USD 1.6 billion, marking a 100.4% rise over the same period last year.

Taking place from July 17 to 21, the 2025 fair features around 250 booths, including 120 booths from nearly 80 Vietnamese enterprises. Participating firms represent a wide range of sectors such as pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, agro-forestry-fisheries, processed foods, textiles, handicrafts, furniture, and consumer goods.
Their products reflect high standards in design, variety, and quality, catering to the needs of both Vietnamese and Lao markets.
Beyond promoting Vietnam’s national brand, the Vietnamese business delegation is also seeking to expand its footprint in Laos and northeastern Thailand, while fostering investment, technology transfer, and joint ventures with Lao partners.

The 2025 Vietnam-Laos Trade Fair remains a key annual event under the framework of bilateral economic cooperation, reinforcing trade relations, mutual understanding, and the enduring friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
