The Lao Agricultural Production and Processing Association (Lao Agribusiness Association) has launched its flagship project to promote the cultivation of roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa), black and white sesame, and large onions for export to the Republic of Korea. The ceremony took place at the 3F Lao Sustainable Agriculture Cooperative farm in Na Theb village, Phonhong district, Vientiane Province on August 14, 2025.

(KPL) The Lao Agricultural Production and Processing Association (Lao Agribusiness Association) has launched its flagship project to promote the cultivation of roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa), black and white sesame, and large onions for export to the Republic of Korea. The ceremony took place at the 3F Lao Sustainable Agriculture Cooperative farm in Na Theb village, Phonhong district, Vientiane Province on August 14, 2025.
The event was attended by Vice President of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Bounlert Luangprasert, President of the Lao Agribusiness Association Bounthieng Rattanavong, President of ROKA Korea Company Changgu Shim along with local authorities, business representatives, banks, cooperatives, producer groups, and village officials.
Mr. Khanthong Siprasert, Vice President of the Lao Agribusiness Association, said the project operates under a four-way partnership model, linking business units, producer groups, suppliers, and buyers in collaboration with the government and financial institutions. The launch also included a drone demonstration for nutrient spraying by the Department of Crop Production.
Currently, six entities are participating in roselle cultivation, covering a total of 2,135 hectares: the 3F Cooperative (2,000 ha), Insi Tha Chang Agricultural Cooperative (10 ha), Saen Oudom Group (40 ha), Had Vieng Kham Group (10 ha), Lak 35 Group in Savannakhet Province (55 ha), and Samnam Kansed Phaluay Company (20 ha).
During the event, an MOU was signed to strengthen cooperation in producing high demand economic crops, including roselle, sesame, onions, and others. A purchase-sale agreement was also signed for 120 tons of dried roselle, valued at 16.2 billion kip, between the Lao Agribusiness Association and ROKA Korea Co., Ltd., represented by Mr. Bounthieng Rattanavong, Mr. Khanthong Siprasert, and Mr. Changgu Shim.
